International Nurses Day 2017

The Royal Marsden School celebrated International Nurses Day on Friday 12 May.

The International Council of Nurses theme for this year's International Nurses Day was Nurses: A Voice to Lead, Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The aim of the theme was to raise awareness: firstly among the nursing profession of what the goals are and why they matter; and secondly, among the population, governments and other decision-makers, of the contributions nurses are making to achieve the goals.

International Nurses Day highlights the amazing work that nurses around the world are doing to improve access to health care, to educate populations, to address poverty, nutrition, clean energy, inequality, sustainability, innovation and justice.

If you have been inspired to think about developing your skills to support the goals, The Royal Marsden School offers a range of courses and modules that will equip you in leading change in your area.

Its Deconstructing Contemporary Practice module equips clinical practitioners with the skills to improve and develop clinical services to enhance patient experience and clinical outcomes. The module explores the dynamic, evolving nature of clinical practice in the UK.

Alternatively, its Advanced Communication Skills Training module is relevant to all senior health and social care professionals working primarily in the field of cancer. It will increase your awareness of your own communication skills while exploring strategies to improve quality communication.
