I have worked as a Lecturer Practitioner at the Marsden School since 2016, before which I was a Practice Educator in the Royal Marsden Hospital Critical Care Unit (CCU). I am an Intensive Care Nurse and have always worked with cancer patients throughout my nursing career.

I am currently the module leader for Principles of Acute Oncology, Fundamentals in Cancer Care, Principles of Lymphoedema and Living With and Beyond Cancer module. I also lead on the teaching elements of the Royal Marsden Hospital’s Early Careers Programme as well as deliver a variety of bespoke work. I am an academic supervisor for our learners who are completing their BSc and MSc dissertations as well as those who are just starting on their post graduate academic path. I am trained in Advanced Communications Skills and I lead on the facilitation of Sage and Thyme training across the Trust too. I have a keen interest in Simulation as a teaching and learning method and have been trained to design, manage and debrief simulation scenarios using a variety of fidelities. I deliver simulation training regularly to a variety of clinical and non-clinical learners.

I have been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2015. I am also a member of the National Acute Oncology Education Group and was involved in the Early Careers workstream for the recent HEE ACCEND project. I am also a member of the London Simulation Network and I am pleased to be a guest contributor to the Capital Nurse Critical Care Qualification in Specialism (QiS) course on Acute Oncology as well as being an Acute Oncology UKONS champion.

I have contributed to 3 chapters of the Royal Marsden Manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures (2020) and have had recent Conference posters at:
•    SESAM (2014) - Implementing InSitu Simulation in a Tertiary Oncology Critical Care Unit: A Qualitative Survey
•    UK Oncology Nursing Society Annual Conference (2016) - Exploration of delirium and CAM ICU compliance in CCU
•    UKONS (2023) - A Case study of Early Careers Nursing in an Oncology hospital

I work closely with those who are early in their cancer career providing academic and pastoral support and my ongoing research areas focus on gaining insight into how best to support and develop our Early Career Oncology Nursing workforce.

I have 2 young children and so hobbies are a rarity! But when there is time, Music, Singing and Theatre play a big part in our lives.
