I have been a lecturer practitioner at The Royal Marsden School since 2011, gaining my teaching fellowship (FHEA) in 2012. Since then, I have been lucky to work on and develop a changing and wide range of modules.

Prior to joining the School, my Occupational Therapy clinical practice in Palliative Care (hospice and hospital) amalgamated previous clinical roles and knowledge which includes surgery, orthopaedics, Social Services, spinal injuries, and rheumatology over a long career. I developed an interest in research following my MSc (Research Methods, Kings College London 1989 – 1991), which has resulted in leading and teaching on research at the School and involvement with a number of research projects.

Supervising dissertation students (BSc and MSc) is another interesting and rewarding aspect of this role, particularly seeing how education makes a real and relevant difference to individual practice and in the wider healthcare world.

Module Involvement this year:

  • Palliative and End of Life Care
  • Applying Research to Clinical Practice (L6, BSc dissertation)
  • Research Applied to Clinical Practice (L7)
  • Methodological Approaches in Healthcare Research
  • Living with and Beyond Cancer
  • Principles of Breast Cancer Care
  • Work-based Learning
  • Portfolio – Exploring your Cancer Practice

Committee and professional membership Involvement:

  • RMH Clinical Audit Committee
  • LOTO
  • RCOT Specialist Section for Major Health Conditions
