Course summary

Lung cancer is the 3rd most common cancer in the UK, accounting for 13% of all new cancer cases. There are around 48,500 new lung cancer cases in the UK every year, that’s more than 130 every day (CRUK 2021). The Lung Cancer module is aimed at health care professionals working with People Affected by Cancer (PABC) with a focus on this tumour site as part of their role.

The module will provide the learner with a comprehensive overview of current lung cancer management, highlighting the sociological context of lung cancer. Within this module the learner will critically explore the diagnostic pathways, current treatments, support strategies and interventions available for lung cancer patients and their carers. The aim of the module is to provide the learner with a comprehensive overview of current lung cancer management and enable the development of knowledge, skills, and behaviours to effectively provide care and support for people affected by lung cancer.
